Loose rack or certified bulkhead?
A loose rack from the DIY shop won't hold back a load
Some tradespeople put a loose shelving unit or a mesh rack behind the cab and hope for the best. In a real emergency stop, something like that folds like cardboard.
Our bulkhead is made of perforated steel or wood with horizontal steel bars, tested for impact load and TÜV GS and CE certified. In the event of damage or a dispute, you are in a stronger position with a certified bulkhead than with improvised work.

Will I lose load space with a bulkhead?
No. The bulkhead follows the exact shape of your cab wall and is deliberately designed to save space: you make full use of the space behind the cab.
You even gain fixing space: the perforated panels carry hooks, holders and accessories.
How long does it take to fit a bulkhead?
We plan a standard fitting shortly after delivery, so your van isn't off the road for longer than necessary; a complete fit-out is usually ready within two working days.
If you combine the bulkhead with a complete fit-out, you get a clear schedule in advance. That way you don't lose any working days.
What is the folding workbench on the bulkhead?
It is an optional perforated worktop at the bottom of the bulkhead with 150 kg load capacity, ready for your vice. You fold it out when you need it and away again when you drive.
That gives you a proper workplace on board without sacrificing a single centimetre of load space.
Will a bulkhead really hold back my load in a collision?
Our bulkhead is tested for impact load and anchored to the bodywork with ribbed steel side reinforcements. It is designed as the last barrier between your load and your cab.
Do you also secure your load at the source, with load securing such as lashing rails and tie-down straps? Then the impact never even happens.
What if something on my bulkhead breaks?
Every Guntro fit-out comes with a full 5-year fit-out warranty, your bulkhead included. If something does break, we take care of the repair.

Can I see a bulkhead in real life first?
Yes, and we recommend it: you only feel how solid a bulkhead is when you push against it.
Isn't a loose rack behind the cab a cheaper alternative?
In the short term, yes, but a loose rack is not shaped to your vehicle, not anchored to the bodywork and not tested for impact load. In an emergency stop it folds, exactly when it has to hold.
