Space Up roof rack for your van: your roof load drops to street level

The Space Up roof rack for your van reverses loading: you do not climb up to the roof, the roof comes down to you. The ladder carrier and the dynamic roof rack drop to street level, so you load and unload your ladders and long materials ergonomically, without a step or ladder.

  • Drops to street level: load and unload without a step or ladder
  • Stainless steel and aluminium: lightweight, aerodynamic and made to last for years
  • 4 versions: from aluminium roof bars to a fully lowering roof rack, from small to large
  • Side panels with LED: lighting up to 5 metres around your van

Ergonomics as the starting point

No more climbing: the roof comes to you

Every morning and every evening the same ritual: scrambling onto the bumper, reaching, strapping down and hoping the ladder does not shift. Your shoulders and knees keep the tally, and in rain or darkness it does not get any safer.

The Space Up puts an end to that. The dynamic roof rack drops fully down via a special slide along the rear of your vehicle, to street level. The ladder carrier opens with a patented compass system and a double active safety lock on the slide. You place your ladders and long materials ergonomically in position, lock them, and the system brings everything neatly back up to the roof.

Did you know… that with the Space Up you load and unload with both feet on the ground? No step, no ladder, no balancing on the bumper.

Space Up
Also in the dark

Integrated LED: your workplace lit up to 5 metres around

At six in the morning in winter your roof is one dark hole. You feel more than you see, and that is exactly when the ladder has to come down safely.

That is why the Space Up roof rack for your van is also available with integrated LED lighting: into the side panels of the roof platform version you slide LED bars on both sides of the vehicle. They light up to 5 metres around your van: enough to load and unload safely, and even to light up your whole workplace on site.

Did you know… the integrated LED lights up to 5 metres around your vehicle? On both sides, so you never work in your own shadow.

Space Up
Light, strong and economical

Stainless steel and aluminium: strong on the roof, light on your fuel use

A roof rack hangs up there in all weathers, year after year. Cheap racks rust, rattle and weigh heavily on your fuel consumption.

The Space Up is built in stainless steel and aluminium: strong where it has to be, light where it can be. Aluminium is up to 30% lighter than steel, and the low, aerodynamic profile keeps air resistance down. If you drive electric, every kilo saved also means extra range for your EV.

Did you know… the Space Up has a patented compass system with a double active safety lock? So your roof load stays firmly secured, even in an emergency stop.

Roof transport for ladders on a van
Classic or lowering?

Classic roof rack or Space Up: choose what suits your working day

If you rarely need to go up on the roof, a classic rack is enough. In that case, do take a look at our roof racks and ladder carriers: robust, damped and TÜV certified.

If you load and unload ladders or long materials every day, the Space Up pays for itself in your body and your pace. It is the premium, lowering system in our range, in four versions: the lowering ladder carrier, the dynamic roof rack, aluminium roof bars with non-slip rubber and the roof platform with side panels for extra lashing points and LED. Each time for small, medium and large vans, adapted to your roof profile. If you carry ladders every day, look at the ladder loading system: it explains the tilting mechanism itself, with load capacity and inspections.

Did you know… the Space Up is fitted via the holes the manufacturer already provided in your roof? Adaptable to different roof profiles, without fuss.

Frequently asked questions about the Space Up roof rack for your van

What does a Space Up roof rack for your van cost?

The price of a Space Up roof rack for your van depends on three factors: the version, the size and the options.

  • Version: roof bars, roof platform, ladder carrier or the fully lowering dynamic roof rack.
  • Size: matched to small, medium and large vans.
  • Options: LED bars, tube carriers, lashing bars and other accessories.

That is why we work with a made-to-measure quote: that way you know exactly where you stand, with no obligation and no duty to buy.

How exactly does the lowering of the Space Up work?

Two of the four versions drop to street level. The dynamic roof rack lets its bars come fully down via a special slide along the rear of your van; the ladder carrier opens with a patented compass system and a double active safety lock on the slide.

In both cases you load and unload with both feet on the ground, without a step or ladder. You lock your load and the system brings everything back up to the roof.

What is the difference between the Space Up and a classic roof rack?

A classic roof rack or ladder carrier stays on the roof: solid and more keenly priced, but you climb or reach to load. The Space Up is the premium, lowering system: the roof comes to you.

Rule of thumb: if you rarely need to go up on the roof, choose a classic rack. If you load ladders or long materials every day, the Space Up pays for itself in comfort, pace and your body.

Will the Space Up fit my van?

Almost certainly. The Space Up is divided by vehicle size (small, medium and large) and is fixed via the holes the manufacturer already provided in the roof. That makes the system adaptable to different roof profiles.

The fully lowering dynamic roof rack is available for a whole range of compact and medium-sized models, including the Citroën Berlingo and Jumpy, Opel Combo and Vivaro, Peugeot Partner and Expert, Renault Kangoo and Trafic, Fiat Doblo and Talento, Toyota Proace, Nissan NV250 and NV300, Mercedes Citan and Volkswagen Caddy Cargo. In doubt about your model? Browse the brands or ask Guntro.

How much weight can the Space Up carry?

That depends on the model and on the maximum roof load of your vehicle, which always remains the upper limit. We therefore only give an exact figure in your quote, matched to your van and what you carry every day.

Tell us what has to go on it, from ladders to tubes and profiles, and we will advise the model that safely suits it.

What can the LED lighting of the Space Up do?

Into the side panels of the roof platform version you slide LED bars on both sides of the vehicle. They light up to 5 metres around your van, so you load and unload safely in the dark and can light up your workplace on site straight away.

Handy for anyone who leaves early or works late: you never work in your own shadow.

How long does fitting a Space Up take?

We schedule a standard fitting shortly after your van is delivered; a complete full fit-out is usually done within two working days. Because the Space Up is fixed to the factory holes in your roof, the fitting stays predictable and your van is not off the road longer than necessary.

If you combine the fitting with a complete fit-out, you will get a clear schedule in advance.

Is the Space Up safe in an emergency stop?

Yes. The system locks with a double active safety lock: your roof load is firmly secured, even in an emergency stop. The stainless steel and aluminium construction is built for years of daily use.

Lock your load according to the instructions and you also stand stronger during a check or a dispute after damage than with a loose home-made solution.

What if something on my Space Up breaks?

Every Guntro fit-out comes with a 5-year full fit-out warranty, including the Space Up. If something does break, we arrange the repair.

Parts remain available for years, so your system stays fully usable for its whole lifetime.

Can I see the Space Up in real life first?

A roof that comes down is something you have to see move. Get in touch with us and we will gladly explain how it works.
